review 3- rhetorical analysis

This rhetorical analysis is over a letter written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, an English poet in the 19th century, to Napoleon III regarding Victor Hugos banishment due to his strange and critical writing pieces.

Because he is the emperor of France, Browning writes in a respectful manner in order to acknowledge the power he possesses. In the beginning, she introduces herself as being a woman, wife of an English poet, showing her inferiority to him at the time. She also writes in a tone that would suggest she is pleading Napoleon III to kindly see her reasoning as to why he should bring back Victor Hugo. By talking mighty of the emperor as well as showing her own weakness, the letter seems to be a constant beg for him to pardon Hugo. Browning uses phrases such as "your Majesty", ""I have trusted you for doing greatly" and others to make him favorable by her inferiority to him and having him believe he is of high importance. The reason as to why she must have used these words and phrases may be to appeal to him in a sense that would boost his ego. Once he feels powerful and important by her tone, he might listen to what she has to say because of the way she is kissing up to him.

review 2- rhetorical analysis timed write

A rhetorical analysis is when you are given a text and must dissect it. By doing this, one explains the reason as to why they believe the author of the text wrote it in such a way. The writer of the rhetorical analysis must analyze the diction, sentence structure, mood, style, and other features that might reveal why the author might have written such text as so. The format one must write a rhetorical analysis in is giving an introduction paragraph that explains the text, thesis, and the main points of the authors piece and why they might have written it as such. Followed by this each point is explained in body paragraphs; each paragraph contains a different point going into depth. Lastly, the conclusion sums up all the points one makes in their essay. During the AP exam, one is given 40 minutes to write out a rhetorical analysis. In a timed write, it is important to write about the different points they believe the author must have written the text in such a way in the introduction and body paragraphs. One should focus primarily on those portions because they are the most important that give out what the writer is trying to say. A conclusion would help but if time runs out its okay if you strongly wrote about the main thesis and focus of the paper.

review 1- synthesis timed write

A synthesis essay involves the usage of several sources and documents to support or deny a claim presented to you. For example, if the prompt suggests that you must address the extent to which if cellphones are good or bad, some sources provided will be for and some against this statement. This synthesis is about the extent to which preserving everyday writing is important or not.

Lastly, the most important reason as to why we should preserve and continue writing is the overall knowledge and information we are provided with.In the source "Battling Information Overload In The Information Age", by Reld Goldsborough, he  asserts the importance and increase of information there is due to the Internet. "Information can lead to knowledge, and knowledge to wisdom," is stated by Goldsborough which demonstrates a connection between how the more information that is available to us can help us become more knowledgeable. Therefore, the information that comes from the Internet such as blogs, texting, websites, and as well as "old media" like books and journals in typed form can make us more knowledgeable and aware of what happened in the past or what is going on at the moment. The preservation of daily writing is very important due to the fact that it allows many to view the perspectives of others and gain information which benefits them in the long run.

As many can see, technology has certainly has advanced within the last couple decades. When cellular phones first came out, only those who could afford them possessed one. Now when you look around, the majority of those who use cell phones regularly are mostly young adults, teenagers, and even some children in their early childhood. When just focusing on teenagers, one can see by this image that virtually almost all teens posses a cellphone. These cellphone users are shown by this data collection to be mostly spread out among the population. The sex, age, race, and household income does vary, yet for the most part the numbers tend to be about average. Overall, this data collection shows that teens are all regular cellphone users for the most part even considering all the different qualities they have. With teenagers for the most part having and using cellphones on the daily, this can affect how they grow up and even are in the future.

The message one can convey from this image is to embrace the lively moments to still feel youthful. From the image of the raining rainbow, there is what seems to be a busy business man whos protecting himself from getting 'wet' and the other figure that represents a young child embracing the rain. These characters seem to be polar opposites in the sense that the older figure is dark and the younger one is full of color and energy since they embrace and take in the colorful rain. What I believe this to mean is that one will enjoy life and have a youthful personality to them if they accept and take in all the fun aspects life has to offer.
A reason as to why society tends to believe older people to be grumpy might be due to them not enjoying all the fun and vibrant moments. When one gets older, one must take on many responsibilities that can cause them to be serious and almost portray having a lifeless character. A young child however has no worries in the world, all they do is play around and enjoy all things that come their way. One should never need or feel the need to block out fun situations just because they must take on a role as a responsible adult, if anything they should embrace those moments to feel a sense of youth and happiness.

The message in the image of what seems to be a soldier playing the piano comes across to an audience as that even if one carries such grad responsibilities with them, they will always have secret guilty pleasures or abilities they love. Everyone in society carries some secret talent or activity they find joy in doing. Even when taking such grand important roles such as in the work field or becoming a parent etc, one might feel as if they must stray away from these activities that bring them joy in order to meet the responsible characteristics to fit the role.
A humans natural senses might deter them from being their own selves to fit the standard others hold on them. Although many might face this problem, others might believe they need to express themselves whether be it by an art form or enjoying certain aspects life has to offer. Just because one takes on the form of being important, does not mean they have to leave everything behind of what makes them happy. In this picture, one correlates the soldier to being harsh and having high responsibilities, but simply because hes playing the piano does not mean his duty's value is weakened, just that he is enjoying himself and is happy.

“I just don’t believe that when people are being unjustly oppressed that they should let someone else set the rules for them by which they can come out from under that oppression.”  ---Malcolm X

For centuries now, many groups have been oppressed and treated poorly by other majorities that see themselves as superior. These groups that are treated unequal, whether it be people of color, women, disabled, and so on, have endured other peoples harassment and much worse just because they don't match with what the superior group tends to be. The oppression and unjustly actions done influences an individuals thinking of their groups placement in society and of themselves. Many are told to face this oppression and unjustly behaviour by revolting and not letting it get to them in a greater sense. Malcolm X states that he doesn't "believe that when people are being unjustly oppressed that they should let someone else set the rules for them by which they can come out from hat oppression", which in other words means that one who is treated unequally shall not let others dictate how they live their life.
